About Our Office
Public safety in Montour County is overseen by 2 separate agencies. Easy Central Emergency Network provides 24 hour a day, 7 days a week 911 emergency dispatching coverage. The Montour County Emergency Management Agency is tasked with the oversight of emergency management and emergency preparedness.
Our Services
The Montour County Emergency Management Agency is tasked with the oversight of all facets of emergency management and emergency preparedness for the County of Montour. The Emergency Management Agency maintains a telephone and sms-message alerting service for the citizens of Montouc County in the event of a situation that requires mass noticication. The agency also oversees the implimentation of disaster and emergency response plans for various entities throughout the county. The Montour County Emergency Management Agency is also the base of operations for the Central Pennsylvania Drone Response Team.
The East Central Emergency Network provides around-the-clock 911 emergency call answering and dispatching for all EMS, fire, and law enforement agencies in Montour County. ECEN also serves as an after-hours answering point for law enforcement, social welfare and public safety agencies throughout the county.
The East Central Emergency Network’s Telecommunicator training program is certified by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) as meeting American National Standards (ANS) for Public Safety Telecommunicator Minimum Training. APCO’s Agency Training Program Certification, a Project 33® Initiative, is a formal mechanism for public safety answering points (PSAPs) to certify their training programs as providing trainees with both the required content and demonstration of decision and psychomotor skills cited within the standard.
As part of the certification process, the Agency’s curriculum, training materials, and supporting documentation are reviewed for compliance. Achievement of this certification is a testament to the Agency’s commitment to providing exemplary service, through advancing the training and professional development of its public-safety communications officials. The East Central Emergency Network is currently one of only five agencies in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to hold this certification, and is very proud to be recognized as one of the finest.
